John, your story is amazing and even though I knew bits and parts of this story, I didn’t realize how badly you wanted to play D1 football. Great job in persevering with your goal and accomplishing it. The picture you submitted really tells the story with your smile as if you were letting others know that YOU DID IT! All the determination, hard work, switching schools, asking a trainer to get you into shape were not all easy things to do but you figured out how to accomplish them all. I think this will be an encouragement to others who also have a goal like yours and aren’t getting a lot of encouragement from others that they too can succeed. Lastly, but more importantly, I wanted to say thank-you for serving in the Armed Forces. It’s something that I am more and more appreciative of as I get older to see how men and women have given such sacrifices for our country. Great job with your dedication to make the football team and to serve the USA!

John, I just learned of your situation from Grady and wanted you to know that I prayed for you and will continue to do so. Just like you’re a fighter here on earth, continue this fight. The most important thing I can share though, is that at Landmark High School many years ago, I took you with me to some kind of Bible Study and I remember that you gave your life to Jesus! I want to celebrate that more than anything else!

John, This is Gary’s mom… Jean Rogers
So as you may know, we lived as a family for over 20 years in Camp Dennison. It’s a great place to raise four sons. I have many good and wonderful family memories living there.
I loved reading your story John. You expressed yourself well. Also, I enjoyed reading about your passion to press on
and not be discouraged and quit.
You have what it takes to be successful in whatever you dream to do.
Nothing is impossible with God. He is our power, our strength, and our wisdom for making dreams become a reality. God Bless!

Hey John, I don’t know what the current situation is, but Gary told me that you could use prayer, and I just read your Life Story. You are a true Giver. You have given to football, without ever giving up. You have given to your country without giving up. You gave at the Police Academy to give to the public without giving up. And most importantly, you gave your heart to One who will never give up on you, Jesus Christ; He loves You and will never fail you regardless of what anything looks like. It can be 56 – 0 in the 4th quarter, they have the ball, with 2 minutes to play and you’ll still win the game in a miracle, He is like that. Don’t give up on Him now, or ever; I will be praying for your victory.

After reading about John’s accident at the Police Academy, my friend Gary sent me this story from Check Your Game.
Hopefully John’s past experiences will help him pull through this latest set back.
Prayers for John and his family.

Although JB was younger than me I always admired his determination, mental and physical toughness. I have told this story before but one of that really sticks in my mind was a time he was running scout team vs varsity football practice as a Wideout. JB would run his patterns exactly how Coach Stoll asked – 100%. It was the only way he knew how. I remember a few times we had some pretty big collisions and every time that happened JB would pop up like nothing happened and he would sprint back to the huddle for the next play. He was so determined to play whether it was in a game or on scout team with the biggest heart and determination. When I read JB’s story it all makes sense. He has that “IT” factor the drive that the best of the best have in life. This is exactly how he made it as a Marine, walked on at UC and has become an amazing father. I hope young athletes read this story and see how determination and hard work can pay off not just in sports but in life too. Thanks for sharing your story JB. Camp D proud.
