Thanks James for sharing your story, advice and wisdom from your life in order to encourage others. Though you experienced some tough times from losing your father to getting cut in College, you still didn’t give up. Great job and great lesson for others. As I’m learning more about you, I’m also discovering how you and your partner in crime, Tyrone Jones (#35 in picture as well as 1984 Grey Cup Most Valuable Player) were a force to be reckoned with. It sounds like Tyrone was a great player, teammate and friend and I’m honored to have learned about him. You both were great players but out of all the accolades and achievements on the field that you could’ve shared within your story, you chose to share something that took place after getting cut after your College tryout, and that was to listen to God. He told you to keep going! God loves that you listened and has allowed you to have a great career in football and now at FCA. Thanks again for your story and I look forward to your continued success.

I’m from Winnipeg and remember as a kid those magical Blue Bomber teams of the 1980’s. James West and Tyrone Jones were the pinnacle of those vaunted Bomber defences and linebacker core that won 3 Grey Cup Championships between 1984 to 1990. The roar of the crowd when they annihilated an offence on the field are memories that will stay with me, the city of Winnipeg and the province of Manitoba, forever…
